Grace Coddington, Adrian Joffe and Comme des Garçons Parfum have united to create the first fragrance from the trailblazing fashion editor: Grace by Grace Coddington. The scent, developed by Comme des Garçons Parfum Creative Director Christian Astuguevieille, was inspired by Grace’s longtime love of roses. Fabien Baron and his team created the distinctive bottle, whose cap is a tribute to Grace’s not-so-secret love of her cats; the packaging showcases her original drawings.
Top notes: a citrus freshness of bergamot oil, an aromatic hint of mint and basil leaves, spicy notes of cardamom and pink peppercorns. Heart notes: Moroccan rose absolute, freesia and peach blossom. Bottom notes: vetiver, cashmere wood, white musks, amber crystals.
ABOUT COMME DES GARÇONS PARFUM
Since its creation in 1993, Comme des Garçons Parfum has held fast to the strong and uncompromising values of Comme des Garçons, and in doing so redefined the language by which perfumes are understood. The original Eau de Parfum debuted in 1994, and today some 75 scents exist: those born of pure creation, series of perfumes that express variations on a theme, anti-perfumes, licensing partnerships and ground-breaking collaborations with artists, cultural icons and institutions such as Monocle Magazine, the Serpentine Gallery, musician Pharrell Williams and now pioneering stylist Grace Coddington.
ABOUT GRACE CODDINGTON
Grace Coddington began working at American Vogue in 1988 and spent 27 years as the magazine’s Creative Director. She has collaborated with countless leading fashion photographers and in 2002 received the prestigious CFDA Lifetime Achievement award. Born in Anglesey, an island off the coast of Wales, Grace spent her youth living in a hotel owned by her parents. At the age of 18, she moved to London where she began her career as a successful model before joining British Vogue as a junior editor in 1968. She is the author of the 2012 autobiography Grace: a Memoir and the sold-out 2002 monograph Grace: Thirty Years of Fashion at Vogue (reprinted in 2015). A follow up to this book will be released in Fall 2016. Along the way, Grace and her partner, Didier Malige, published The Catwalk Cats (2006), a book of drawings and photographs of their cats. Grace now serves as Vogue’s Creative Director at Large. In April she will launch her first fragrance, Grace by Grace Coddington, which was inspired by her love of English Roses. She lives in New York City with Didier and their two felines, 10-year-old Pumpkin and a new work in progress, 1-year-old Blanket.
